First Seen Here: Valentine’s Day Rabbit Amigurumi

Today we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with our nice, shiny, and bright Valentine’s Day Rabbit Amigurumi!

We went to town with this one–white and pink rhinestones and all. The one thing that inspired us to make this Valentine’s Day rabbit amigurumi was the pink leopard print felt. We were at the craft store one day and noticed a couple of new felt sheets next to the usual solid colored ones. Our crocheter just couldn’t resist the temptation of playing around with one of them, so we ended up picking this leopard print one.

She wanted this Valentine’s Day rabbit amigurumi to be loaded on the sparkle factor, so we glued on the rhinestones everywhere and anywhere we had a chance to. After seeing how our New Year’s monkey amigurumi turned out, we were excited to try the rhinestone treatment on something else. As you can see, we lined the ears and all other felt pieces with the pink and white rhinestones. We even stuck them inside the ears too–do you see them? Even the cheeks have rhinestones on them! Ah…rhinestones are just the BEST when it comes to going overboard on the decorating. Someday, we’re going to glue rhinestones all over our amigurumi! Don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted on that . It’s going to take a lot of patience, but we’re pretty set on it! Well, until we get our hands on some more of them…we’re kind of low on them heh heh.

We tried to use the pink leopard print felt more than necessary…but we still have more than three fourths of the sheet left. What will we do with it??

Instead of just making our rabbit amigurumi all one color, we decided to go with a pink fuzzy tail for this one. It makes it look cuter, right? That’s all everyone–Happy Valentine’s Day and thanks for looking at our Valentine’s Day rabbit amigurumi !

Glass slipper, heart, and roses not included.

It’s not like the less detailed patterns you’ll find elsewhere. For Star Wars® fans who love crochet, making this doll is an absolute joy. Show off your love for Star Wars® and adorable little Artoo with this 100% complete and easy-to-follow crochet pattern available exclusively here. This will no longer be offered on my etsy.

Artoo also makes a great gift for a friend who is Star Wars® fan. Score added brownie points when your very lucky friend discovers you made the R2D2 amigurumi with your very own hands. Don’t stop there, be sure to make one for yourself too. After all, you’ll have the crochet pattern in front of you so you can reference it again and again any time you want to make more.

A little history:

This is the amigurumi that started it all. It was first featured on a friend’s blog and later picked up by hundreds of blogs across the world including the Official Star Wars Blog. After getting such a great response I decided to start my own website featuring my creations. With so many visitors requesting custom-made dolls and patterns, I listened and launched my own store. My blog wouldn’t be what it is today without this unassuming little droid that could… thank you Artoo!

First Seen Here: Chinese Dragon Amigurumi

Let’s celebrate with a Chinese Dragon Amigurumi!! I actually made this Chinese dragon amigurumi last year, and if you liked my Facebook page you’ve probably seen it already. Sorry if it’s a repeat for some of you, but I thought it just had to be a part of my blog too!

Making this Chinese dragon amigurumi was like making a mini-Bowser. I never really realized it before, but Chinese dragons have deer antlers – did YOU know that? What do they need antlers for anyway? I just crocheted small tubes and sewed one perpendicularly in the middle part of the other and attached the combined unit to the head.

What I like best about this Chinese dragon amigurumi is the felt work. My sister had to cut out so much felt for the dragon’s mane, eyebrows, and fins.

The redness of the fins and mane make the dragon amigurumi look like it’s on fire!! It looks pretty fierce thanks to my sister who likes to put her own scary spin on my cute amigurumis…making it’s eyebrows slanted so it looks like it’s frowning, and giving it fangs. It’s ok, for this dragon amigurumi, a little bit of scariness is just what it needs so I’ll let it go this time around.

Here it is posing with a Chinese girl amigurumi my mom crocheted. For the whiskers, I just crocheted a chain and attached it to the sides of the snout. Later, my mom sewed a golden thread into it too to give it some extra shine.

That’s it for our Chinese dragon amigurumi! Hope everyone who celebrates it had a great Chinese new year, and we wish everyone a prosperous and healthy year!

Props and Chinese girl amigurumi not included.

First Seen Here: New Year’s Monkey Amigurumi

Let’s celebrate the new year with a bright and shining New Year’s monkey amigurumi!! Happy New Year everyone!

This is our last monkey amigurumi!! Yay! It’s been a year since we started on this idea of crocheting monkey amigurumis to represent each month of the year, and we’re finally done! It sure was a lot of work to do but the process was definitely very fun and exciting.

For our New Year’s monkey amigurumi, we wanted to go for the sparkling and glamorous look so we went all out on the decorating this time. Gluing every single piece of crystal onto its face, ears, and body was very tedious. But in the end, it came out way better than we expected! We really wanted this monkey to stand out from the rest so we used as many crystals as we could in decorating it.

We recently went on a trip to Las Vegas so that might explain our more glamorous approach to our New Year’s monkey amigurumi.

The crystals were originally for decorating the interior of your car. They came as a whole sheet of adhesive crystals where you could peel off chains of them and stick them wherever you want. Mom bought them a long time ago but only used a few of them on her own amigurumi and other creations you can see on her amigurumi doll site. So she threw the remaining crystals at us and we went to town with it!

Lucky for us we had a boat load of Mardi Gras beads all jammed together in a tiny plastic bag buried in our Christmas tree decorations box so the concept for this monkey was pretty much decided after we discovered it. They were all collected from dad’s company parties over the years and we just got a few more this year too!

Looks like our New Year’s monkey amigurumi had a blast in Vegas too!

First Seen Here: Thanksgiving Monkey Amigurumi

For those of you who were wondering–no, we did not forget about the month of November and yes, we have a Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi just for it. Hope everyone stuffed themselves silly with lots of yummy foods during the holidays!

For our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi, we went with the Native American look. We could have gone with the pilgrim look but ultimately decided that a Native American monkey would allow for more decoration. Since we already had a lot of Native American styled props lying around the house, why not use them here?

Doesn’t our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi look so cozy and right at home with all the props in the background? Sometimes those random souvenirs you buy on trips really come in handy!

By the way, the feathers on its headdress are parakeet feathers! We used to have a couple of parakeets and when it came to cleaning their cage, we’d always have a nice supply of some pretty feathers. We saved up quite a few of them, so that also gave us another reason to make a Native American monkey amigurumi. Yes I know, it should have way more feathers on its headdress, but our parakeets weren’t balding!

Our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi with its turkey friend. Come to think of it, we didn’t even eat turkey this Thanksgiving… Instead, we ate…….duck.

Its face paint is actually red and white nail polish! Could have just used paint, but I didn’t have a paintbrush and plus, I didn’t want to wash it afterwards either. But since nail polish already comes with a brush, it was much more tempting and easy solution to my little dilemma hahaa.

Hope you enjoyed looking at our Thanksgiving monkey amigurumi!

First Seen Here: Santa Claus Monkey Amigurumi

We’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays with our Santa Claus Monkey Amigurumi!!

This is our most festive looking monkey amigurumi to date! For those of you who are wondering, yes, we are missing one monkey. But don’t worry, our November monkey amigurumi will not be left out. Promise!

Our Santa Claus monkey amigurumi sits proudly on display in front of our Christmas tree. All the little Christmas decorations we collected over the years really came in handy for this photo shoot. The little house was just the right size for taking pictures with the Santa monkey amigurumi. Time for some side views!

Since we couldn’t find a small white pom pom for the tip of the hat, we had to crochet a tiny ball out of another type of fuzzy yarn. Not as round as a pom pom would have been, but it still works right?

For this monkey, we did some things differently…like the green hands and feet. We wanted our Santa Claus monkey amigurumi to look like it was actually wearing gloves and boots. Then to top it all off, we just lined them with some fuzzy wires.

What’s also special about this monkey amigurumi is the white beard. Instead of using something like cotton for the beard, we just decided to go with felt. Using something like cotton for the beard probably wouldn’t last as long. After a while, it’d probably start losing hair (or cotton fibers) there! That wouldn’t be good… Cutting the beard was very easy. All I did was cut out a square, folded it in half, and cut only one side of the beard so that it’d come out symmetrical.

We also made a Christmas tree topper this year too!

Like our random Christmas decorations? There’s a ferris wheel, nutcracker, house, and big crystal cubes! Our Santa Claus monkey amigurumi is so festive! It makes all of our previous monkey amigurumis look plain! Don’t worry, there’s still New Years to outdo this Santa Claus monkey amigurumi :]!!

First Seen Here: Halloween Vampire Monkey Amigurumi

To finish off our crazy Halloween amigurumi spree, we present to you a Vampire Monkey Amigurumi!

Isn’t he so dashing? Looking so sharp with a tux instead of the usual heart chest piece, sparkly black buttons, and a nice little bow tie too. So fashion forward! He even holds a romantic red rose in his paw, handcrafted by my sister polarbear of course. This little vampire monkey amigurumi is sure to charm his way into all the lady’s hearts! Don’t get too excited though ladies…rumor has it he’s dating the little Witch Monkey Amigurumi. Sigh, she’s a lucky monkey, I know…

This vampire monkey amigurumi was by far the fanciest monkey we’ve made so far. The cape was actually handsewn together by my mom (because we all know how horrible I am at sewing). It was such a nice coincidence that we had the perfect materials lying around too, like velvet and satin, to make the perfect cape. The hat is exactly the same as the St Patrick’s Day monkey amigurumi and Fourth of July monkey amigurumi.

Another part of this vampire monkey amigurumi that took a lot of work was the backdrop. Polarbear spent days painting and drawing the background. She even cut up some of the same black chiffon material used for the Witch monkey amigurumi’s cape to make into curtains. Our idea was to make the vampire monkey amiguurmi look like he was in a mansion. For me at least, when I think vampire I think mansion…and of course a coffin!

Polarbear also spent a lot of time handcrafting all the roses on the coffin and on the floor. She even used glitter glue to outline some nice gold lines on the coffin. Very decadent-looking, just how I had envisioned it ahh. The coffin was actually made out of styrofoam from an old egg carton. It was painted black and then nicely decorated. And for you nitpickers out there, yes we are aware the coffin is a little bit small. He sleeps sideways…because he likes to!

I just had to include this picture because he looks like he’s using his hand to flaunt his luxurious cape haha!

Of course, no vampire is complete without some bloody fangs! The fangs were cut out from white felt, then painted very meticulously with red nail polish.

Teethy~!

That wraps up our monkeys of the month for October! I hope you’ve all enjoyed our Halloween monkey amigurumis as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them. We went a little crazy because it’s polarbear’s favorite time of the year. She’s been dying to get dark and spooky with our cute amigurumis since forever! I just enjoyed living vicariously through the monkey amigurumis because I want to dress up for Halloween but can’t…sniff sniff.

Nevertheless, our Vampire Monkey Amigurumi wishes everyone a Happy Halloween!!

Anyone want to see a cute Halloween devil monkey amigurumi? Here it is! Our cute version of the devil. >]

Did you know the devil could look so cute and harmless? Don’t you just want to pinch his pink little cheekies? Yes, he’d like that.

To make it look more devilish, we included the little black horns at the top of its head. And then to top it off, we just cut out some black wings using a thin black foam sheet.

The only problem with this devil monkey amigurumi was that our image of it was completely different. Janama wanted it to look cute, but I wanted it to look evil…..and maybe cute? At any rate, I couldn’t help myself and just cut out the wings so that they’d fit my image of the devil. Sharp, pointed and fancy! I figured that since the monkey’s face was cute already, I could probably get away with the wings that no one will probably pay much attention to. Hehe..

The felt face and chest pieces are a dark red color. If you think about it, isn’t the devil all red? We could have done white felt, but then it would just end up looking like a Santa Claus monkey… So instead, we just used dark red felt. Does it look devilish enough?

Such a happy devil!

I even tried to be fancy and cut an extra little edge on the upper tips of the wings. Did you see them? If you did notice them…yay.

My black flowers that I bought a long time ago really came in handy here! I really liked how they looked but could never seem to find a place for them. Now they look happy and perfectly at home with our devil monkey amigurumi.

There’s still lots more where this Halloween devil monkey amigurumi came from so we’ll keep you updated on the others very soon!
