First off – why did it need replacing? Did it break or get bent somehow? If something major happened to the crank, meybe theres other underlying issues inside the motor.
When you replaced the crank, on the flywheel side, did you install a new flywheel key? Those can only be used ONCE- its the whole purpose- to shear if theres a problem to avoid damaging the motor. Id recheck all the work youve done, and make sure .
To be honest, if something goes bad inside a motor, like a crank or rod- Its cheeper in the long run to just get a replacement motor.

Well, I know exactly how you feel. I'm known as Mrs Claus to all my family and friends because I go crazy at Christmas. I have things all over the house. Nothing is left untouched. I usually put up at least 7 trees and a boat load of garland. I have been collecting for many years. On the top of my entertainment center (7 foot tall by 9 ft wide) I have my Christmas Village. Lots of little cottages and stores, churches and schools. These light up, so it adds to the festiveness of the room. I don't usually go with a theme, because I have way to many things to choose from, and I would feel bad about not putting things out. Nut's I know. I use net lights outside on the shrubs and outside of the windows. This year we changed our yard to xero scape. All succulents and Cactus. So it's going to be a challenge to say the least. I might just lay the net lights on the rocks and around the plants. That might be interesting. My son will help me with the lights on the house, due to the fact that as I'm getting older and I don't feel safe on the roof any more. The only thing that I do collect that is very similar is Egg ornaments and Nativities. I have a lot of these, ( similar to Faberge eggs) more eggs then Nativities. I'm not particularly religious, but Nativities just move me like nothing else.
Oh I almost forgot to mention that I also collect Mark Roberts fairies and Elves. I really favor the elves. That are ugly and cute all at the same time.
I remember seeing in a christmas web page a picture of a tree that someone decorated in their yard. They hung hundreds of shatterproof ornaments and lights all over the tree. That might get some attention from the neighbors and you don't need to worry about the weather. I enjoy the dollar stores also because you can really find a lot of interesting things that you can use in different ways every year. I hope you have a blast decorating to your hearts content. People may not tell you, but I do know that most people will enjoy your efforts to bring a little holiday spirit into their lives.

Nah, leave them up! It's not worth the effort to take them down, then put them back up again. At this time last year, my family still had our artificial tree up in the living room. People will think you're a little crazy, though. But it's worth it to have the decorations up so you can relax while watching your neighbors struggle with putting up their lights and other decorations.
