A spooky addition to any Christmas decorated house would be this spider web Christmas light. The white light bulbs are placed strategically in a web formation and the spider is defined by a series of red light bulbs. Note the huge abdomen and legs make this quite a realistic and scary spider web Christmas light. The detail is amazing and certainly the concept very unconventional. At any rate, you can probably get away with anything on your front lawn as long as it’s decked out with Christmas lights. There even looks to be a poor Christmas light fly trapped in the web!

The spider web looks better when you use less. take it out of the bag and cut it into pieces with scissors usually 4-5 inches. Not to small and not to big. And have lots of things were you can attach it from. Like nails, tight corners, etc.
For my house. I usually do a Haunted House and I decorate my front yard. For my yard i put tombstones and bones on the ground. I have a fence thingy i make every year with like 6 wood sticks and i attach *Caution:Enter if you dare* tape to make a rectangle around my yard. Then I add GREEN spider web (so u can see it in the dark) all over the yard and the tombstone and usually i make a life size dool to either is on a chair or make it stand up with wood. Like a grave keeper. I add glow in the dark skeletons as if the bodies have come out of the grave. I put a thin piece of metal to make them stand up and people never see how they are standing.
Now if you need ideas for a Haunted House.

You wil have to replace all the bulbs with 3.5 volt bulbs, the thing with lights is this, it's always ok to run a light bulb with to little voltage but never with to much, So if you have 4.5volt light bulbs you could use them but never anything less.
When you use a bulb with a greater voltage requirment then tou have supplied voltage the bulbs don't burn as bright and last allot longer, it like having them on a dimmer switch.

What you are asking is possible, however it will cost you more in the long run. You can purchase a single strand of lights in nearly every different color at just about every discount outlet; probably under two dollars per strand. You will also have a string of lights that has been tested, UL approved and in proper working order.

Another thing that is used is hot glue. We've done it – it's just takes forever and not really worth that much effort. But it's basically modifying a hot glue gun to be able to attach to an air compressor. The compressed air hits the hot glue as it's coming out and kind of spins a very thin web on whatever you are pointing it at.
Not sure if it glows in black light though. I have seen the spider web stuff in a bag that supposedly glows, but it is green in regular light.

You can do it with an X10 Home Automation System. I'm not sure if the new software supports web access, but there are plenty of third party software which interfaces with X10 that can do it.
